Unfortunately, the Legislature failed to act to pass these critical bills, so we will re-engage them next year to continue our fight to reduce disposable plastic use in California. Support a future of clean seas in California for endangered leatherback sea turtles! Two bills advancing in the Legislature would lead to a phasing out of single-use plastic bags in grocery stores (AB-298) and polystyrene foam take-out containers in restaurants (SB-568). Plastic bags and plastic foam pieces are two of the most common litter items found on California’s beaches along the new leatherback critical habitat.
