Support the Leatherback Bill in California
SeaTurtles.org is the architect and
principal sponsor of AB 1776 (Fong) that proposes to make the endangered Pacific leatherback sea turtle the official marine reptile of California and declare October 15 as Pacific Leatherback Sea Turtle Conservation Day. This historic bill was authored by SeaTurtles.org staff members Chris Pincetich and Teri Shore in collaboration with Assemblymember Paul Fong (Democrat - Cupertino).
Thank you to the hundreds of sea turtle lovers and dozens of organizations who supported the bill in the Assembly. It passed in record time on a bipartisan vote and is now in the Senate! See our Senate action above.
