Demand Justice for the Killing of Sea Turtle Hero Jairo Mora Sandoval
On Thursday, May 30, criminals kidnapped 26-year-old Jairo Mora Sandoval, a brave Costa Rican sea turtle conservationist working to protect endangered leatherbacks from poachers. The next morning, his lifeless body was found on the beach. Four female conservation volunteers, three Americans and a Spaniard, were also kidnapped and robbed, but survived and returned home.
Now nearly three weeks later, the criminals responsible for the kidnappings and murder have not been brought to justice. Costa Rican president Laura Chinchilla must commit to taking strong actions to ensure such a tragedy does not occur again.
Take action below to call on US Secretary of State John Kerry to join us in urging swift and immediate action from the Costa Rican government. Not a resident of the US? Write to your home country's international representative to Costa Rica using our letter below to get started!
